Bring Your Own Clothes: Embroidery on Items You Already Own
Have a shirt, hat, jacket, bag, robe or blanket you want stitched? Bring it to Embroidery By Shotzy in the Houston Heights and we’ll embroider it. Walk-ins are welcome and there’s no minimum, so one item is fine.
What you can bring
We embroider many things customers already own: t-shirts, polos, hoodies, jackets, hats, tote bags, robes, towels and blankets. Not every item or fabric embroiders well. Very thin, stretchy, coated or vintage items can pucker or snag, so we’ll tell you before we stitch if we see a concern.

- Embroidery is per item for one location.
- Digitizing turns your design into a stitch file. It’s a one-time fee: $25 up to 4 inches wide, $30 for over 4 to 6 inches and $35 for over 6 to 11 inches. Even a simple name needs a stitch file, so the fee applies to items you bring.
- Reorders of a design we already have on file don’t need to be digitized again.
How it works
- Walk in or text us a photo of the item and your design.
- See a mockup showing the wording, thread colors, size and placement.
- Approve it — nothing gets stitched until you say so.
- We stitch it — most orders are ready 1–3 business days after approval. Rush is available for a fee; ask before you drop off.
- Pick up at our shop.
Out of town? You can mail your items to us. Call or text first so we know they’re coming. Read the full customer-supplied garment policy before you drop off.
Common questions
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk-ins are welcome during shop hours.
Can you stitch just a name or initials?
Yes. The digitizing fee still applies, since every name needs its own stitch file.
What if the item gets damaged?
We handle every item with care and flag concerns before stitching, but some fabrics can be marked by the process. Our policy page explains the details.
